The Commission on Elections and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) spearheaded on Thursday the dismantling of illegally placed campaign materials in Muntinlupa.
Lawyer Lourdes Ugalino, Comelec officer in Muntinlupa, said the drive was aimed at removing posters and streamers posted on trees and electric posts along the National Road in the city.
It didn’t cover campaign materials posted on buildings and private properties.
The move was to strictly implement rules covering the posting of campaign materials.
No campaign material was spared from the drive. The team, assisted by the Philippine National Police, tore down all posters from Barangay Tunasan to Sucat.
Mayor Aldrin San Pedro lauded the MMDA and Comelec for implementing the drive, saying that it also underscores the need to keep the surroundings clean.
“Aside from enforcing the rules, the MMDA and Comelec is also supporting the drive to make our surroundings clean,” the mayor said.
