Another fire in Paranaque leaves 30 families homeless

MANILA, Philippines – Fire gutted the homes of 30 families in Barangay La Huerta, Parañaque Sunday night.

Firefighters said the blaze started at the second floor of a building on La Huerta village at 10:30 p.m. and quickly spread to adjoining houses. The fire was put out at around 1 a.m. Monday.

There were no reported casualties in the blaze.

Firefighter said they had a hard time putting out the fire because of the narrow streets.

Residents, meanwhile, mauled a man for allegedly stealing some of their belongings during the fire. They said the suspect introduced himself as a police officer to gain entry into the houses.

The suspected robber has been arrested by police.
