A NOTORIOUS drug trafficker in Las Piñas is now in jail after he was arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in an entrapment operation that led in the seizure of an estimated Php250,000 worth of shabu last Thursday, PDEA chair, Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac Jr. said.

Israel Saquiton alias ‘Boy,’ a 31-year-old jobless resident of Sabang, Dasmariñas, Cavite, was placed under arrest after he handed a plastic packet containing 50 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ to a poseur in Zapote Plaza on Quirino Avenue on Thursday at around 10 p.m., according to Cacdac.

Members of the PDEA National Capital Region Office under Atty. Jacquelyn de Guzman also recovered the four pieces of marked Php500 bills paid by the poseur to the suspect.

De Guzman said they are checking the information that Saquito is getting his stuff from a shabu dealer from Cavite and sells the items through commission system. “He claims that he has been involved in the illegal trade for four months,” the lawyer said.

Saquito is now being held at the PDEA jail in Quezon City facing charges of violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.                         With Jun I. Legaspi
