100 houses razed in Muntinlupa City

Around 100 houses were razed and about 600 families were affected in a fire that broke out Barangay Putatan in Muntinlupa City on Tuesday evening, according to a report on GMA’s Unang Balita.

The residents of Barangay Putatan in Muntinlupa City helped put out the fire in their area by passing around buckets of water.

The fire started in an abandoned house at around 11:30 on Tuesday evening.
Sweet Burgos, a fire victim, said they gathered their belongings to bring them to a safe area.

Muntinlupa City Fire Marshal Supt. Gilbert Dolot said around 100 houses were razed and about 600 families were affected.

The estimate cost of damage is pegged at P3 million.

He added that they had difficulties reaching the site of the fire because it was a few meters from the main road and from the water source.

The fire alarm was raised to Task Force Bravo a few minutes after 1 a.m., the Bureau of Fire Protection declared a fire out at around 3 in the morning on Wednesday.

Dolot said illegal electrical connections is being eyed as the cause of the fire. — BAP, GMA News
