Oral Health Month benefits some Las Pinas barangays

The Philippine Dental Association, in partnership with Colgate-Palmolive Philippines, Inc., is celebrating the 8th National Dental Health Month this February

2012.

 

        Also known as the Oral Health Month, the event features health advocacy campaign projects such as the “Kabarangay sa Colgate” in some communities and the “Zero Cavity Mission”. These projects are being featured in national media and accompanied by activities such as free dental checkups, oral health lectures, tooth brushing drills in selected barangays.

 

        In line with this celebration, the Las Pinas Dental Chapter reached out to those areas such as the TS Cruz Subdivision in Almanza 2, Las Pinas City last February 13, 2012 and the Bernabe Compound in Pulanglupa I, Las Pinas City last February 15, 2012, who have limited access to dental health services, those who are financially constrained and those who suffer in silence the consequence of poor dental and oral health. Aside from the procedures mentioned above, LPDC also performed other dental services and treatments such as extraction, oral prophylaxis, restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, nail trimming, alis kuto, proper handwashing techniques and parents’ education.

 

        The Kabarangay sa Colgate at TS Cruz was attended by 61 government and private dentists and volunteers and served 309 patients while the Pulanglupa I Dental Mission was attended by 49 government and private dentists and volunteers and around 149 patients have availed the dental services.
