MANILA, Philippines – A man accused of killing his wife jumped to his death from the third floor of Las Piñas City’s hall of justice yesterday.

Siegfried Cabunoc, 44, a resident of Pilar Village, was the principal suspect in the killing of his 54-year-old wife, Daisy, according to city police chief Senior Superintendent Adolfo Samala.

The body of Daisy, who disappeared on Monday, was found in a grassy area in the village the next day. She had been stabbed several times, Senior Inspector Joel Gomez, head of the city police’s criminal investigation division, told The STAR.

Cabunoc was arrested Thursday. Gomez said investigators have evidence indicating the killing was a “crime of passion.”

At around 2:30 p.m., a police officer brought Cabunoc to the justice hall for inquest proceedings on the parricide charge filed by the police.

However, upon reaching the third floor, Cabunoc – who was in handcuffs – bumped his police escort and jumped through an open window, landing on the pavement. He was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital, according to Gomez.
