300,000 fingerlings for Muntinlupa fishermen set free at the Muntinlupa Fish Sanctuary

The saying there are many fish in the sea is true in Muntinlupa City.

Around 300,000 Tilapia and Bighead Carp fingerlings were set free yesterday at the Muntinlupa Fish Sanctuary as part of the Bureau of Fisheries Aquatic Resource’s BASIL or Balik Sigla sa Ilog at Lawa program.

Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi together with Lake Management Officer Rosalina Dy Contreras and BFAR IV-A Batangas Inland Fisheries Technology Outreach Station Officer Nenita Kawit place some fingerlings at the Muntinlupa Fish Sanctuary.

Aimed to improve the fish populaation in Laguna Lake, the project also looks to provide marginal fisher folks in Muntinlupa more fish to catch.

So hopefully, these fish will not only feed the Muntinlupa fishermen and their families for just a day.
