“Safe Public Spaces” in Muntinlupa

The local government of Muntinlupa, through the Gender and Development Office, joins the UN Women’s Global Flagship Initiative, “Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces,” on September 26. Members of women groups, the LGBT community, the elderly, PWDs, and the youth participate in Muntinlupa City Safety Walk, a social experiment to walk on streets at different times of the day. The project aims to develop policies and approaches on the prevention of and response to sexual harassment and other forms of violence against women and girls across different settings. Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi (center) vows to improve women’s and vulnerable sector’s safety in public places.
