National Cultural Treasure Marker of Las Pinas Bamboo Organ unveiled

Mayor Imelda Aguilar(2nd from left) unveiled the National Cultural Treasure (NCT) marker of the Bamboo Organ housed at the St. Joseph Church, Las Piñas City on Saturday, November 9, 2019 together with (from L-R) Congresswoman Camile Villar, Senator Cynthia Villar, Raquel Flores, National Museum Officer in Charge, Rev. Fr. Agusto Pulido, Parish Priest of St. Joseph Church, and Most Rev. Jesse Mercado, Bishop of Diocese of Parañaque.

 

The Las Piñas Bamboo Organ is one of the National Cultural Treasures (NCTs) of the Philippines declared by the National Museum as authorized under the National Heritage Act of 2009 and recognized within the Cultural Properties of the Philippines by the Philippine government. Completed in 1824 by Father Diego Cera, it is the only surviving and functional 19th century Bamboo Organ in the Philippines.
