Another community in Muntinlupa has been put on lockdown due to a high number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi has placed Sitio Pagkakaisa Zone 3 Interior in Barangay Sucat under extreme localized community quarantine (ELCQ) until June 26.

The area has 26 families but has 17 confirmed COVID-19 cases, one of the highest among Muntinlupa’s communities, according to the City Health Office.

Muntinlupa CHO chief Dr. Teresa Tuliao said all patients with active cases from Sitio Pagkakaisa Zone 3 Interior are confined at the Ospital ng Muntinlupa (OsMun) in Alabang for observation and treatment.

The CHO has conducted mass testing in the community and 37 probable cases in the area have been placed in the barangay isolation unit and OsMun quarantine facility for monitoring.

According to the city government, the families have been given relief food packs to cover all meals and other basic supplies during the effectivity of the lockdown.

On June 16, the two-week lockdown implemented in Morning Breeze Homes in Alabang was lifted after the CHO declared that the COVID-19 cases in the community are now under control. The health of residents infected with the virus has improved, while all probable cases have tested negative for COVID-19.

“We ask all Muntinlupeños to continue practicing good hygiene at all times to prevent getting infected by COVID-19. The downgrading of quarantine measures doesn’t mean that we have already eliminated the virus, so continue wearing your face masks, observe disinfection practices and physical distancing to protect yourself, your family’s health and everyone else’s,” Fresnedi said.

As of June 17, there are 313 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Muntinlupa, including 198 patients who have recovered and 35 deaths, leaving 80 active cases, or 25.5 percent.
