Feb.13, a special non-working holiday in Pque! Find out why.

February 13, 2013 has been declared a special (non-working) day in Parañaque City. It marks Parañaque’s 15th Cityhood  Anniversary.

This is contained in Proclamation No. 543 which was signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr. last February 1, 2013.

Parañaque was converted from a municipality into a city by virtue of Republic Act No. 8507 which was signed by then President Fidel V. Ramos on February 13, 1998 and Parañaque City Ordinance No. 98-07.

“Parañaque’s cityhood anniversary is a special day for us as it symbolizes our journey to progress. We should be proud! Our economy continues to become stronger.  Our city has consistently been in the Top 10 cities list of the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) since 2006. Also, it has been included in the qualification phase of the New 7 Wonder Cities search. It is currently ranked 3rd in the Southeast Asia and Oceania Zone and the only Metro Manila city that has remained in the competition. Hurrah for Parañaque, congratulations to all of us!”, Parañaque Mayor Florencio Bernabe, Jr. said.

The mayor reaffirmed his commitment to continue to implement policies and programs promoting the welfare of the citizens and enhancing the development of the city.  Meanwhile, he called on the residents to get involved and participate actively in community matters.
