36 women rescued from human traffickers in Las Piñas

A Singaporean and thirteen Filipinos were arrested by authorities in a raid on a suspected human trafficking den in Brgy E. Aldana in Las Piñas City on Friday.

According to Police Chief Insp. Elizabeth Jasmin, spokesperson of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the raid was conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation and the PNP.

The suspects were identified as Singaporean national Yvone Phua, Michael Abellar, Joy Abellar, a certain Eric, Emma, Mandy and 8 others.

Aside from this, 36 women who were said to be victims of human trafficking and illegal recruitment were rescued during the raid.

The operation stemmed from the complaint of five women who were made to pay their way out and reported the alleged illegal activities of the recruitment agency identified as PEM Maid Employment Agency.
