Taong Grasas and other streetfolks in Pque rescued

On orders of Parañaque Mayor Florencio Bernabe, Jr., the Parañaque DSWD, aided by their counterparts in barangay government units again staged a rescue sortie and rounded up street dwellers-children and adults alike; mentally-ill persons; and juveniles.

At the processing center, the street dwellers were fed and documented.

They were also examined, given medicines and their wounds cleansed and bandaged by physicians and nurses of the City Health Office and the Emergency Medical Technicians of the Parañaque Emergency Response Unit (P.E.R.U.).

Juveniles were released to their parents after counseling while those with mental disorders were brought to the National Institute for Mental Health.

Meanwhile, street folks with chronic illnesses were endorsed to the Fabella Hospital and those who elect to go back to their home provinces were referred to the DSWD-NCR.

Parañaque DSWD is headed by Mr. Dean Calleja.
