P’que urban poor receive land titles

Parañaque’s socialized housing program continues to progress and touch the lives of this city’s urban poor.  Mayor Florencio Bernabe, Jr. on Monday, October 01, 2012 awarded the first batch of land titles to 36 informal settler families in NAPA Compound in Brgy. Marcelo Green, this City.

The land titles were obtained by way of the free patent process under R.A. No. 10023. Titling was facilitated by the Urban Mission Areas Development Office (UMADO) and the Local Housing Development Office (LHDO) of this local government unit.

It will be recalled that in 2008 the City Government of Parañaque, represented by Mayor Jun Bernabe entered into an agreement with Neighborhood Action for Progress Association (NAPA) Homeowners’ Association.

Under this MOA, the LGU assisted said residents’ association by advancing P407,000.00 representing payment for miscellaneous sale and titling to the Dept. of Environment and Natural Resources. The association in turn committed to pay back said amount within five years with a 6% interest per annum.

“Our socialized housing program is attaining new heights with successes in “in-city and on-site relocation and resettlement” of qualified beneficiaries. We will keep up with our efforts to provide our underprivileged residents unending opportunities to have decent homes.”, Mayor Jun Bernabe said.

In a related development, the first batch of socialized housing units in Rotary Homes along the Parañaque C-5 Road Ext. has been awarded recently to qualified beneficiaries. Said site development is a joint project of Dist. 3830 Rotary Homes Fdn., CFC-ANCOP-Tekton Fdn., Maynilad Water Services Inc., and the City Government of Parañaque. This project is designed for the relocation of informal settler families along the banks of the Parañaque River where no structures are allowed having been classified a “danger zone”, like coastlines, creek sides, under bridges, railroad sides and near airports, among others.
