P’que socialized housing project attains new heights

Through the initiative of Parañaque City Mayor Florencio Bernabe, Jr. who requested approval of the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), a subsidiary of the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation has recently approved the application of the Sarikap Gonzales Home Owners’ Association Incorporated to avail of the Community Mortgage Program (CMP).

The endorsement is in line with the City Government’s on-going efforts to provide more socialized housing projects for the marginalized residents in the city.  The application for the CMP is for the purchase a parcel of land with an area of 3,000 square meters in Brgy. San Isidro that will be used for the socialized housing project for the benefit of 99 families who are members of the Sarikap Gonzales Homeowners’ Association Incorporated.

To help the association attain their goal, Mayor Jun Bernabe sent a letter to SHFC President Fermin Arzaga so that the association could avail of the CMP which the mayor highly recommended.  The endorsement was further supported by City Urban Mission Area Development Office headed by Ms. Julie Anne Pascual-Torres.

After reviewing the group’s request for financial assistance, the SHFC replied in a letter signed by Vice-President Jejomar Binay who is also Chairman of the SHFC addressed to Sarikap Gonzales Home Owners’ Association Incorporated President Benjamin Vencito that it had approved their request with the release of the Letter of Guaranty for their socialized housing.

“It is the dream of every family to have their own house and that is the reason why we have always given our full support to the establishment of socialized housing projects in the city to help our marginalized constituents realize that dream,” Mayor Bernabe said.

The mayor also thanked the SHFC for approving the group’s CMP application which brings them closer to their goal of having their own homes.  He also vowed to promote and support more socialized housing projects for marginalized citizens in the city.

The Parañaque LGU continues to work with other non-government organizations (NGOs) such as Gawad Kalinga, Answersing the Cries of the Poor (ANCOP), Rotary Homes Foundation, Inc., Habitat for Humanity, other NGOs and well-meaning corporations in establishing socialized housing projects in the City.  It has established 33 GK villages which is the second highest number in the National Capital Region.
