PLDT says internet services restored

From abs-cbn.com:

MANILA – PLDT Inc said internet services in some areas of Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Laguna, and Mindanao are now back to normal after an earlier slowdown.

The telecom company said Thursday afternoon that internet services have been normalized following the repair of fiber optic transmission cables that were earlier damaged by “civil works of a third party in Alabang.”

PLDT and its rival Globe Telecom said earlier this month they rerouted data traffic after 2 successive typhoons tripped an undersea cable system in Hong Kong and slowed internet connections in the country.

Repair works on the damaged cable were expected to take up to 3 weeks.
