Paranaque streetchildren given school supplies

Valuing literacy, the Parañaque City Government under the leadership of Mayor Florencio Bernabe continues to promote education in the city.

On Monday, June 13, 2011 the Parañaque DSWD headed by Mr. Dean Calleja distributed school supplies to public elementary and high school students from poor families as well as in-school persons with disabilities (PWDs)

“We believe that every child of school age must have access to education regardless of economic status. To lessen the financial burden of their families, the city government provides some answers and interventions to their educational needs. In recent years, we have built new schools in barangays where there used to be none. Every year, we give out scholarship grants and distribute school supplies to poor but deserving students and in-school PWDs.”, Mayor Bernabe said.

Early on his first term of office, Mayor Jun Bernabe had the modern 4-storey Dr. Arcadio Santos National High School-Sun Valley Campus, F. Serrano Elementary School-Sun Valley Annex and the Moonwalk National High School built.

SY 2011-2012 witnessed the inauguration of the Parañaque Science High School (PSHS) Building and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Parañaque Branch Building in Brgy. Sto. Niño, this city.

Enrollment in all 10 public secondary schools in Parañaque reached 28,916 students while the Parañaque’s 21 public elementary schools admitted 43,657 pupils.
