Paranaque revenue from public market operations collections up

The Parañaque City Government under the leadership of Mayor Florencio M. Bernabe, Jr. reported that revenue collection from its public market operations for the period January to May 2012 rose by 4.5%, or P7,005,309.78. During the same period last year, it only made P6,701,946.19.

The increase of collection was based on a report submitted by the Economic Enterprise Management Division (EEMD) headed by Ms. Ligaya Peñaranda to the Office of the City Treasurer and the Mayor outlining collection figures, accomplishments and developments by the EEMD.

The increase in collection is due to the intensive efforts of the public market administration including tax mapping and saturation drives for business permits compliance, likewise regular inspections of weighing scales and other consumer-friendly measures that improved market patronage.

Ms. Peñaranda expressed her gratitude to the mayor for the repairs made on the facilities; rehabilitation of waterlines; and maintenance of drainages in the public market area to prevent flooding.

She also thanked this LGU, the Parañaque PNP and barangay government units for their continuing efforts in keeping peace and order in the public market area.

“The increase in collection shows the commitment and dedication of our employees; EEMD best practices including consumer protection; and increased public confidence, patronage and support. We commend our employees for a job well done.” Mayor Bernabe said.
