Paranaque Hataw sa Health program on

Following its successful launch on Monday, Parañaque City’s H2H – “Hataw sa Health” Program-“Kulturang Kalusugan: Parañaque City’s Celebration of Culture, Health and Environment” unfolds today with a colorful and productive array activities in line with the global celebration of World Health Day 2010 “1000 Cities, 1000 Lives”.

On simpler terms, they are designed to benefit the citizenry, especially but not limited to children, youth and persons with disabilities (PWDs). In a deeper sense, they have been envisioned to increase the awareness of the populace and governments, likewise draw response to the health, environment and livability issues that accompany the rapid urbanization that is taking place.

Instructed by Parañaque City Mayor Florencio Bernabe, Jr. to organize the activities, City Health Officer Dr. Olga Virtusio coordinated with the various departments within the Parañaque local government organization and concerned national government bureaus for support.

Also, with a request from the city government, artists from the Metropolitan Museum are lending their expertise to the project as barangay government units and NGOs are making inputs for the activity.

The following workshops are now ongoing for a four-day duration until April 10, 2010 at the Parañaque National High School-Main Campus in Brgy. San Dionisio, this city: Art Therapy; Basic Painting; Basic Digital Photography; Videography; Film Showing and Critiquing; Creative Writing; Green Architecture; Sensitivity Training for the Visually-Impaired; Recycled Paper, Beads Design and Jewelry-Making; Children’s Theater; Adult Theater; Scenography Arthouse and Prop Design; Improvisational and Pop Music – all for free, courtesy of the Parañaque City Government.

The outputs of the said workshops in the seven arts will be celebrated on this coming Sunday in a grand street presentation. To give way to the celebration, portions of Quirino Avenue (Parañaque City), particularly from corner Dimatimbangan St. in Brgy. Don Galo up to the Kabihasnan Junction in Bgry. San Dionisio, will be temporarily closed to traffic on Sunday, April 11, 2010 from 1:00A.M. through 11:00P.M. Motorists, drivers of public utility vehicles, delivery crew and all other persons concerned are advised to take alternative routes. (Public Information Office)
