Paranaque gives out Christmas baskets to the less fortunate

With Christmas just a few days away, the Parañaque City Government under the leadership of Mayor Florencio Bernabe, Jr. had the 2011 edition of its “Pamaskong Handog” done from December 14 to 19, 2011.
“Pamaskong Handog” is a yearly activity where the city government distributes Christmas baskets consisting of groceries to marginalized residents of the city as a means of sharing the blessings of the season.
Apart from spreading the joys of Christmas, the activity also provides Mayor Jun Bernabe an opportunity to meet his constituents and discuss their service needs, views and concerns on important issues and developments in the city.
“Christmas is the season of giving and sharing and what better way to spread the holiday cheer than by helping those who are in need which is why we continue this traditional gift-giving,”  Mayor Jun Bernabe said.
The project is under the joint supervision of the Mayor’s Office, Parañaque DSWD under Mr. Dean Calleja and the Office of the Secretariat headed by Ms. Liberty Florendo.
City employees also received their Christmas basket consisting of assorted foodstuffs such as ham, spaghetti noodles, cheese and coffee, among others during the celebration of their Christmas Party that was held last December 16 at the grounds of City Hall.
