Muntinlupa batters brace for Asia Pacific Little League

EQUIPPED with grim determination, discipline and comprehensive training in their arsenal, the Muntinlupa Little League (15-18) team is all set to invade Guam for the Asia Pacific Regional Championship to be held on July 4 to 9 at the Paseo Stadium in Agana.

Team manager Felipe Remollo said his boys are ready and raring to slug it out with the best of Asia and the Pacific Region in the said division aiming to gain the ticket to the World Series in Easley, South Carolina slated on July 24 to 30.

The Team Muntinlupa-Philippines will face powerhouse Saipan, Guam, Thailand and Hong Kong in a single-round elimination wherein the eventual champion will gain an outright berth to the World Series.

“It’s a tall order. We’ve seen the strength of Saipan and host Guam last year. They’re tough but the boys are ready to face such challenge,” Remollo said who also acknowledged the support of Little League Philippines, Philippine Sports Commissioner Jolly Gomez, Foton Motors, San Miguel Corporation, Petron and Eagle Sky Entertainment.

The Muntinlupa batters, who topped the Little League Philippine Series last April in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga is composed of players from Ateneo, La Salle, National University, Rizal Technological University and from Cebu Dolphins, Manila Sharks, Alabang Tigers and Dumaguete Unibikers of the Baseball Philippines.

They are sluggers Deo Remollo, Paco Tantuico, Justin Mathay, Micuel Salud and Francisco Hashimoto, pitchers Carlos Munoz and Tsuyoshi Horibata, and veteran players Johnny Altamonte, Johndel Tolosa, Ferdinand Liguayan, Alfa Ian Turaray, Tuwi Park Quito Castro and Ado Inigo.

Coaches are Ricardo Jimenez, Marlon Caspillo and Lolito Pulgo.

The Filipino batters will eye for their first win against host Guam on Wednesday.
