LTFRB encourages Paranaque PUV drivers to practice being courteous and kind to passengers

VARIOUS transport groups have expressed their support to the ‘PINK 4’ project of Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) that encourages public transport vehicles’ operators and drivers to provide courtesy, kindness and special first-ride commuter accommodations especially during rush hours to women, children, senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

The project was formally launched in Paranaque City over the weekend and was attended by different transport officials and groups among them Paranaque Public Utility Vehicles Transport Federation, Inc. (PATRANS) that also held a caravan to dramatize their support to the program.

In a statement, Paranaque City Mayor Edwin L. Olivarez expressed his full backing to the initiative even as he pointed out that protecting and helping the four most valuable sectors of the society who are the main recipients of the project- is one of the main priorities of his administration.

“I wish to congratulate LTFRB Chairman Winston Ginez for coming out with this project that would give special attention and protection to the vulnerable sectors of our society. I therefore encourage the public especially our constituents here in Paranaque City to support this initiative” he pointed out.

Under the scheme, any public utility vehicle that is registered under PINK 4 is expected to provide top priority commuter services because they are registered and had passed rigid inspection by the LTFRB.

Women, children, senior citizens and PWDs will be given priority during rush hours from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 am and in the afternoon from4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

To encourage full cooperation and participation from the public utility drivers and operators, all certified PINK 4 members would be given special IDs as well as priority lanes when processing their registration papers in the transport agency.

They will also be spared from the hassle of inspection when passing through checkpoints by just showing their papers and identification cards indicating that they are accredited PINK4 drivers.

To become PINK 4 member, drivers need to present valid official receipts and certificates of registration of vehicles, franchise decision before the LTFRB after which a confirmation will be released after a thorough evaluation of documents.

“Projects like  these certainly elevates the level of public service and also assure the safety and convenience of our commuters especially those who belong to the more vulnerable sectors of our society” Mayor Olivarez stressed.
