Las Pinas City now has eyes all over the city

From inquirer.com:

LAS PIÑAS City is now “on cam” round the clock.

A command center for Las Piñas’ P20-million CCTV (closed-circuit television) system is now operating 24/7, with personnel from the local traffic bureau monitoring 23 surveillance cameras on the city’s major thoroughfares.

“Constant monitoring through these CCTVs is vital to avert crime incidents and for quick response to emergencies and traffic situations,” Las Piñas Mayor Vergel Aguilar said in a statement.

The CCTVs and the command center based at City Hall started operations in November last year.

In earlier interview, Councilor Carlo Aguilar said the city council originally allocated P25 million for the project but was able to negotiate for a discounted price of around P20 million.

The cameras can be remotely controlled and have zooming capabilities, according to the councilor. Jaymee T. Gamil
