Counterfeit bills in the “South” prevalent? Group arrested in Pque

A syndicate making counterfeit peso bills was believed busted after government agents raided its printing facilities in Parañaque City Wednesday night.

On Thursday, radio dzBB reported that the National Bureau of Investigation seized several sheets of fake peso bills in the printing shop at 315 Quirino Avenue in Don Galo village.

The report cited initial information indicating the NBI team, armed with a search warrant, found 94 fake P200 bills.

NBI agents also found 13 “banig” or sheets of uncut P200 bills, and three sheets of uncut P500 bills.

The team took in for questioning the caretaker of the shop, initially identified as Jimboy Velasco.

An initial investigation showed the raid stemmed from earlier sting operations conducted on other members of the syndicate.

The NBI suspects the group had been behind the distribution of fake peso bills in Las Piñas City, Cavite province, and even Malate in Manila. — LBG/RSJ, GMANews.TV
