2,044 Munti families displaced due to floods; Expected to rise due to continuous rains

Muntinlupa today declared itself under a state of calamity due to the floods and continuous rains.

Here are the total number of evacuees in the city and where they are presently housed:

Barangay Tunasan (290 families) <– Tunasan Elementary School and Covered Court

Barangay Putatan (388 families) <– Putatan Elementary School

Barangay Poblacion (268 families) <– Muntinlupa Elementary School

Barangay Bayanan (172 families) <–ALS Center

Barangay Alabang (135 families) <– Alabang Elmentary School

Barangay Cupang (520 families) <– Cupang Elementary School and Plaza Covered Court

Barangay Sucat (222 families) <– Sucat Elementary School

Barangay Buli (49 families) <– Buli Elementary School

 

According to Muntinlupa Public Information Office chief Omar Acosta, most of the evacuees reside near the coast of Laguna Lake which overflowed.

“Numbers may rise as floodwaters continue to rise due to heavy rains,” said Acosta, adding that the evacuees have been provided with blankets, mats, hot meals as well as medicines.
