MANILA, Philippines – Two female Vietnam nationals have been rescued from two Chinese kidnappers in Las Piñas City, Tuesday evening, after authorities traced their location using an application on the hostages’ smartphones.

According to information from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), the two were found in a residential unit inside Golden Gate Subdivision in Barangay Talon 3.

One of the suspects was arrested, identified as Li Mu Qin, but another suspect named Zhao Chao managed to escape.

The abduction reached the police when one of the victims’ cousin reported that the two are being held against their will, with the kidnappers demanding P1 million for their release.

The victims supposedly met with the suspects for a blind date after using an online dating app last December 30.  NCRPO noted that they were able to pinpoint the location of the abductors and the two women by sending her Google location.

“When the victims entered the suspects’ boarding house, their hands and legs were immediately bound with packing tape and were instructed to contact their immediate family to produce the amount of 1M pesos for their release,” NCRPO said.
