MANILA, Philippines – A traffic enforcer was shot by a lone gunman while manning his post on a busy street in Paranaque City this morning, police said.

Police Officer 2 Alfredo Dumusmog said that Dominador Lopez was directing traffic along Dr. A. Santos Avenue, Brgy. San Isidro, around 7 a.m. when an unidentified man approached and shot the victim.

“According to witnesses, someone approached the victim and shot him. The suspect then just walked away and rode a jeep heading to Sucat Highway,” Dumusmog said in a radio interview.

Witnesses also told police investigators that the assailant used a cal. 38 revolver in shooting Lopez, who was with other traffic personnel in the area at that time.

Dumusmog did not mention Lopez’s condition after the attack.

Police are still investigating the incident.
