Special Non-Working Holiday in Paranaque on Feb. 14!

In celebration of its 13th Cityhood Anniversary, Malacañang, at the request of the Parañaque City Government has declared February 14, 2011 (Monday) a special (non-working) day in the City of Parañaque.

Proclamation No. 106 which was signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr. made February 14, 2011 a holiday since the cityhood anniversary date, February 13, 2011 falls on a Sunday.

Following the theme “Parañaque Panalo Sa Todo Hataw Na Serbisyo!”, the activities lined up for this year’s cityhood celebrations include musical extravaganza/concert/variety shows; dance contest (inter-barangay competitions); pre-Valentine celebration; food festival of Parañaque delicacies; and fireworks display.

As a program highlight and culminating activity, awards will be given to Outstanding Citizens of the City and the Most Outstanding Employee in Public Service.

The former is in recognition of the great achievements and service of the Parañaque citizen that have become a source of pride for the city and the country. The latter is to honor the “model government employee” for his/her dedication to duty; diligence and outstanding performance; excellent work habits; good working relationships with superiors, subordinates, personnel on equal-level jobs and most importantly the public; and great contributions to his/her department or agency and the city as a whole.

“Parañaque continues to make great progress in terms of economic growth and development. From a once dark and dirty locale with a sluggish economy, we have transformed it into a clean, beautiful, healthy and progressive city. Apart from faring well with prime cities in the country, it is now making a name in international business circles. With your continued support, we will attain greater heights and realize our vision of “Parañaque as prime habitat city and investors’ haven of the Metro South.”

On the occasion of our 13th Cityhood Anniversary I humbly thank you for your contributions for the development of the city.”, Mayor Bernabe said.
