The love for music seems to be inherent in the Filipino psyche wherever and whatever he is.
This was proven once again when only recently the 100-member Bureau of Corrections Grand Orchestra and Chorale held their first public concert inside the maximum security penitentiary with prison officials, relatives and media people as their audience.
What made the concert unique was because the performers are all convicts and inmates serving life sentences for murder and other criminal offenses inside the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa.
The project was a brainchild of prison officials to showcase the inmates’ musical talents and to prepare them to cope up with life outside prison walls after serving their sentence. The formation of the musical group also serves as an outlet for inmates to ease their tension and boredom while inside prison.
