Rotary Homes Project in Paranaque launched!

It’s all systems go for the Rotary Homes Project! Following its grand launch on Friday, January 28, 2011, large-scale development will unfold at the 4.2 hectare site at the Parañaque C-5 Road Extension area which was bought by the local government for socialized housing purposes.

A joint project of the Rotary International District 3830; CFC ANCOP Tekton Foundation, Inc.; the City Government of Parañaque; Gawad Kalinga; and Save the Parañaque River Foundation Inc., the undertaking aims to build decent homes for 1,500 poor families who are living in makeshift houses along the banks of the Parañaque River.

Following the program inception of R.I. Dist. 3830 Rotary Homes Foundation Inc., the establishment of the Rotary Homes Village Phase 2 will be under the care and management of CFC ANCOP Tekton Foundation, Inc.
As of launch date, Rotary Homes already has Php2M funds. With this, the construction of the initial 43 units can now be started, expecting the first 20 to be completed in 6 months and the entire target of 1,500 units in 5 to 7 years.

Other pledges are for the construction of a church, sports complex, school and other facilities that are essential in a community as well as the implementation of values formation, livelihood, health, education and community programs.

Done in accordance with Community Program Program (CMP) standards, qualified beneficiary families will be allotted 25 sq.m lots each on which their houses will be built for an easy payment term of Php1,000.00 monthly amortization for the next 20 years.

To date, we have 32 GK villages, the second best count in the NCR. We will continue to build more to empower the poor in Parañaque. Soon, we will be able to minimize poverty in the city and make Parañaque squatter-free!”, P’que Mayor Jun Bernabe said.

Apart from “building communities”, the other goals incorporated in the project are the promotion of public health and safety by relocating families from “danger zones”; prevention of flooding in the city; protection of environment and conservation of natural resources including the rehabilitation of the historic Parañaque River.
