Good news for Parañaque residents!
The Parañaque City Government will hold a photo contest in line with the celebration of Parañaque’s 439th Foundation Anniversary Celebration.
Slated for November 29, 2011, the “on the spot” competition will have for its subjects the “Caracol” and the “Brazil Mardi Gras style street-dancing” that will take place on the streets of Brgy. La Huerta on the above date.
No fees are to be paid. The contest is open to amateur photographers and photo hobbyists who are residents of Parañaque. By the organizer’s definition, an amateur photographer is one who is not connected with, not working in/for or contributing to any newspaper, magazine or book publication, marketing or advertising company or City Government of Parañaque) and is undertaking the activity as a pastime, “for the love of it”, rather than as a profession or livelihood.
Although the contest is open to all ages, those under 18 (minors) must have a written consent from his/her parent or guardian to join the contest and a pledge from said relative that he/she will keep his/her charge under the watch and supervision in the contest duration.
“This is a great opportunity for amateur photographers and devoted hobbyists residing in Parañaque to show their skills while immersing themselves in Parañaque’s rich cultural heritage. We encourage all amateur photo enthusiasts to take part in this contest. This may be your gateway for earning honors for yourself and your city.” Mayor Jun Bernabe said.
Application forms are available at the Public Information Office 2/F Parañaque City Hall (Tels. 826-0011 and 829-0866). The deadline for submission is on November 18, 2011.
Participants can use any digital camera (SLR or “point n’ shoot”). Mobile phone cameras are excluded. Use of special filters is not allowed. Contest rules are provided in the Parañaque City Government’s official website www.paranaque.gov.ph.
Only entries which meet the format and submission requirements shall be eligible for judging which will based on overall composition and technical skill. A panel of four (4) judges will select the winning photos.
The Grand Prize Winner will get a cash purse of P5,000.00. The First Runner-up will get P4,000.00; the Second Runner-up, P3,000.00 and the Third Runner-up P2,000.00. A participant can only get one (1) prize.
