Olivarez eyes 30,000 more jobs in Paranaque

PARANAQUE City Mayor Edwin L. Olivarez is confident that their city will continue its growth momentum even as it is now well on its way into becoming one of the top business and tourist destinations in the country.

This developed as he announced that they expect to generate at least 30,000 more jobs as business establishments, particularly first class hotels and entertainment venues located in the city will soon be fully operational by next year.

Mayor Olivarez made the announcement during Monday’s flag raising ceremonies noting that “now more than ever, there are plenty of opportunities for local residents to find jobs and consequently give them better chances in life”.

“Ipinapangako ko po sampu ng lahat ng mga opisyal ng ating lungsod na gagawin naming lahat ang aming makakaya para mapaglingkuran ang ating mga kababayan ng may katapatan  at maibigay sa kanila ang lahat ng mga batayang pangangailangan tulad ng libreng edukasyon, murang pabahay, pagkain sa bawat mesa, pangangalaga sa matatanda at may sakit at iba pa” Olivarez stressed.

(I promise together with all my fellow officials that we will serve with utmost honesty and dedication and to deliver to our people the necessary basic services like free education, affordable housing, food in every table, care for the elderly and the sick and others.)

He is banking on recent developments in the economic front in which investors and business locators continue to express their interests to move in and put their investments in Paranaque City.

Mayor Olivarez particularly instructed the local public employment and services office to strictly enforce the city government’s policy of requiring companies “to hire at least 20 per cent of their employees from the pool of local applicants”.

The move was to ensure that companies should give priorities to local applicants who will be recommended by the city hall “after undergoing a thorough screening, evaluation and job matching processes”.

Mayor Olivarez said that among the companies that they expect to provide employment opportunities by next year are Aseana City which could generate at least 10,000 jobs.

He is also looking at Manila Bay Resorts owned by Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment (TRLE) to generate the same number of jobs along with the Ayala Land which will also provide another 10,000 jobs with its planned construction of a 500,000 square meter shopping mall.

Mayor Olivarez stressed that these encouraging developments would further inspire him and the other city officials to work harder as they continue to find ways to better serve the people especially the poor and the disadvantaged and make them better and more productive members of the society.
