Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi has announced that city scholars will enjoy a P50-million fund allocation for 2014.

During the city’s annual ceremonial New Year’s toast, Fresnedi said that the city’s elementary, high school and college students would benefit from the educational financial assistance program of the local government.

“I would like to thank the city council and all city officials for doing their part in our projects and programs. The year 2014 will bring more challenges and hardships for us but I know that we can do it again together,” he said.

The mayor added that the first six months of his term were not easy but stressed that the city government would not stop designing projects for the city’s development.

According to Patricia Perido of the city information office, more than 30 public elementary schools, high school institutions, colleges and universities in the city will be covered by the scholarship program.

“Interested students need to apply for scholarship slots by submitting requirements to the Muntinlupa Scholarship Foundation such as their report card, the voter’s ID of their parents and a barangay clearance,” Perido said.

She added that elementary and high school applicants should have a cumulative grade of 80 while college students should be ranked among the top 60 percent of their school.
