Munti LGU donates P5-M to typhoon-stricken Cagayan, CAR towns

On September 15, Typhoon Ompong (international name: Mangkhut) made landfall in Baggao, Cagayan and threatened Northern Luzon leaving at least 81 people dead.

While the Department of National Defense says Baggao town in Cagayan suffered the most damage, the number of casualties has climbed mostly due to the corpses recovered from landslides in the Cordillera Administrative Region, including the mining town of Itogon.

In response, the City Government of Muntinlupa donated 500,000 pesos each to ten municipalities in Cagayan, Benguet, and Kalinga that were affected by Typhoon Ompong.

Muntinlupa City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Erwin Alfonso and Muntinlupa Social Service Department chief Analyn Mercado handed the donation amounting to five million pesos to local officials and Council members of the typhoon-sticken towns.

The ten municipalities include: Baggao (Cagayan), Iguig (Cagayan), Pamplona (Cagayan), Lasam (Cagayan), Claveria (Cagayan), Sta. Praxedes (Cagayan), Sanchez Mira (Cagayan), Itogon (Benguet), Kabayan (Benguet), and Pasil (Kalinga).
