Munti bags DICT eGOV Government Inter-operability Award

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), together with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP) recently launched the Digital Cities Philippines Awards for Best Practices in eGovernance for Local Government Units to recognize digital cities and eGov champions.

Among the 65 entries from 36 LGUs in the country, Muntinlupa City bagged the 2nd place award in the Best in eGOV Government Inter-operability (G2G) category for its Budget Management and Monitoring System (BMMS).

Muntinlupa BMMS is an IT solution utilized by offices of the local government for its internal financial transaction and budget process flow. The city also presented the Sangguniang Panlungsod Information Management System (SPIMS).

Naga City won the first place award in the category for its Alisto Serbisyo App (ASAP) while Parañaque City ranked third for its Enhanced Human Resource Information System.

The G2G category recognizes an LGU’s initiative to connect data and systems with other government offices to improve its public service delivery.

Receiving the award from Senator Sonny Angara and DICT execs were Management Information System officer Nancy Torero and Muntinlupa Budget officer Lualhati Morales.

Other officials attending the ceremony were Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, DICT secretary Eliseo Rio Jr., DICT undersecretary Monchito Ibrahim, and DILG secretary Eduardo Año, among others.

Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi welcomes the citation and expressed his thanks to DICT and the organizing agencies. Fresnedi commits to continue the development of systems, programs and applications that improve public service in all levels.

The eGov Awards is an annual search for best ICT practices in local government units to effectively empower its constituents, including members of the private sector. Other categories for the awards include: Best in eGOV Customer Empowerment (G2C) Award, Best in eGOV Business Empowerment (G2B) Award, Best in eGOV Digital Finance Empowerment (G2P) Award, Best in eGOV Data-Driven Governance Award (D2G) Award, and Best in eGOV Systems for Global Competitiveness (G2W).
