MANILA – The missing wife of a PLDT executive was found dead in her car Sunday morning, ending a four-day search that began in Cavite and ended in Laguna.
The last mobile transmission from the phone of Gloria Gonzales, 47, was at 2:30 p.m Thursday (June 25), an hour after she left their home in Paranaque City. Because the last transmission was from Silang, Cavite, the police in that province went to work, searching for her and the Gold Innova she was riding in, with license plate UOS146.
The Innova, it turned out, had been seen parked outside a house on Batista Street, Barangay San Vicente, Binan, Laguna since Thursday. There, covered with a blanket and decomposing, her body was found by police in the Innova’s trunk on Sunday.
Packaging tape covered her mouth, and all of her personal belongings were gone.
Residents worried by the stench that began to waft from the car had alerted the police, who theorized that robbery might be the motive, as Mrs. Gonzales, wife of PLDT Vice President & Head for Corporate Relationship Management John Gonzales, was known to be selling jewelry.
A police search of the car turned up none of the jewelry.
Her body was brought to a funeral house in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, and will be autopsied at the PNP crime laboratory.
The victims’ family declined interviews.
