Las Piñas Friendship Route open for extended hours again for the Holiday Season

To combat the always-heavy traffic along Alabang-Zapote Road and in anticipation of the increase in volume of vehicular traffic during the Holidays, the Las Piñas City Government announced last week that the Friendship Route will be open until 12 midnight.

In a letter to affected homeowner associations prior to the implementation of the extension, Las Pinas Mayor Mel Aguilar requested for them to make the routes inside their villages open until midnight.

“We are working on various solutions to the problem and one immediate relief that was identified is to extend the period within which the Friendship Route is open,” expressed the mayor.

She also mentioned that the courtesy roads through some Las Pinas villages will start to open at 4am.

“It is viewed that with such extended period, the city’s residents would have the additional option of passing through the Friendship Route whenever it would be too punishing to make use of the main thoroughfares,” Aguilar added.

The extension is said to be implemented until Jan. 6, 2019.

We received some reports from our followers though that some gates like Philam Village do not honor the extension.

In a conversation with City Hall, they said they will talk to Philam management.

Let’s hope that this one move will somewhat relieve the always-busy Alabang-Zapote Road of traffic.

Drive safely, everyone!
