MANILA, Philippines – The Las Piñas prosecutor’s office has ordered the city police to release a student arrested for her alleged involvement in a sorority hazing in Barangay CAA on Jan. 10.

Assistant State Prosecutor Marlon Almero said the charge against Marilyn Alagbate, a University of Perpetual Help student, will be subjected to further investigation since she was arrested at her house, not when the crime was being committed.

Fellow student, Pauline Santos, accused Alagbate and four others – Lhen Gracias, Marie Buenavente,  Lala Murase and Angie Magsael – of allegedly recruiting her into their sorority and inflicting injuries on her during an initiation rite on Jan. 10.

Almero sent subpoenas to the four other women and set the case for preliminary investigation on Jan. 28.
