Las Piñas fetes outstanding teachers, DepEd employees

Mayor Mel  Aguilar lauded the winners of 2018 Gawad Sikhay of the Division of City Schools-Las Piñas for ther exemplary service and commitment to education during a ceremony held on Tuesday.
Gawad Sikhay recognizes the outstanding services of school administrators, teachers, and non-teaching staff of Department of Education (DEpEd)- Las Piñas.

The awarding capped the celebration of National Teachers’ Month by the Division of City Schools of Las Piñas City.

Mayor Mel Aguilar (5th from left) presents the award to Ignacio L. Son Jr. (4th from left) of Cluster 2 Las Piñas City National Senior High School – Doña Josefa Campus in School Head Category. Looking on are (from left) Dr. Ronel H. Balistoy (Public School District Supervisor), Mrs. Eugenia V. Guerra (chief, School Governance Operation Division), Dr. Loreta B. Torrecampo, CESO V (Schools Division Superintendent – Las Piñas City), and Dr. Violeta M. Gonzales (Asst. Schools Division Superintendent).

According to Mayor Aguilar, “the practices of the winners of Gawad Sikhay should be emulated because these are models of outstanding commitment to their profession.”

The Gawad Sikhay Winners for 2018 are Rizal S. Martinez of Manuyo Elementary  School  (Non-Teaching Personnel Category), Leah B. Rivera of Almanza Elementary School  (Alternative Learning System Category) , Luningning N. Angeles of CAA Elementary School (Elementary SPED Teacher Category), Roela C. Badiang  of Las Piñas Elementary School Central (Elementary School Category), Cynthia B. Ong of Las Piñas North National High School (Junior High School Teacher Category) and Ignacio L. Son Jr. of Cluster 2 Las Piñas City National Senior High School (LPCNSHS) Doña Josefa Campus (School Head Category).

The mayor was assisted during the awarding ceremony by Dr. Loreta B. Torrecampo, CESO V (Schools Division Superintendent- Las Piñas City), Dr. Violeta M. Gonzales (Asst. Schools Division Superintendent), and Mrs. Eugenia V. Guerra (Chief, School Governance Operation Division).
