I will not condone smuggling by anyone – Mayor Olivarez

Parañaque City Mayor Edwin L. Olivarez today lauded authorities who conducted a raid in a family-owned warehouse compound in the city where suspected smuggled goods were found this morning and said he will never condone or tolerate smuggling by anyone.

“Hindi natin ito kukunsintihin,” the mayor said. “We will cooperate with the proper authorities to get to the bottom of this case, and we will let the law take its course.”

Mayor Olivarez said the raid was conducted at the Olivarez Compound in Barangay San Dionisio which is owned by his family. However, he said the raided warehouse in the compound was being leased to a company called ZQL Enterprises owned by a certain Richard Gonzales Cheng.

He categorically denied that his family owned the suspected contraband seized during the operations.

“I have instructed our police chief, Senior Supt. Ariel Andrade, to conduct a separate inquiry to get to the bottom of this incident and to file charges against anyone found violating the law,” the mayor added.
