Hi! You’re on a Paranaque hidden camera!

Parañaque City Mayor Florencio Bernabe, Jr. recently ordered the installation of additional closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in various areas in the city as part of the local government-PNP crime prevention program.

The first batch of CCTV units were installed in May 2009 following the enactment of City Ordinance No 08-043 Series of 2000. This local legislation was designed to boost the local PNP’s crime fighting capability by employing the latest technology to monitor the various streets and thoroughfares.

“We are committed to keeping our constituents safe from lawless elements. By utilizing the latest surveillance technology, our protective services will be able to respond faster in police and other emergencies” Mayor Bernabe said.

The first CCTV cameras were installed at the South Luzon Expressway, San Antonio Valley 1, City Hall, Brgy. BF Homes, Lopez Village in Brgy. San Isidro, the Command Center of the City Police HQ in Brgy. San Dionisio, Kabihasnan Road also in Brgy. San Dionisio and Multinational Village in Brgy. Moonwalk

Additional cameras are now in place at the Redemptorist Road in Brgy. Baclaran, Coastal Road in Brgy. Tambo and two other units in Quirino Avenue.

Apart from the CCTV cameras, the city government has also strengthened the law-enforcements’ crime-fighting capabilities by providing them with additional firearms; new patrol cars; motorcycles; and communication equipment. (Public Information Office)

Hopefully, this will make crime watch and security in the city more formidable.
