Classes in all levels suspended in Metro Manila November 16-17

MANILA, Philippines – The Metro Manila Council (MMC) on Tuesday, October 10, suspended classes in all levels in Metro Manila on November 16 and 17.

The MMC said on Tuesday that this is to give way to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Leaders’ Summit and Related Meetings to be hosted by the country in November.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Danilo Lim said the decision was reached during the 9th MMC meeting.

Aside from leaders and senior officials from ASEAN member-states, ASEAN dialogue partners will also attend the meeting, which coincides with the 50th founding anniversary of ASEAN.

Among the world leaders who have confirmed attendance to the event is US President Donald Trump, who will partcipate in the US-ASEAN Summit and the East Asian Summit in Clark Freeport, Pampanga, where the meetings would be held form November 10 to 14. – Rappler.com
