Christmas arrives early in Muntinlupa, 35-foot Christmas tree installed

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Muntinlupa City.

Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi leads the annual Christmas lighting ceremony at the Muntinlupa City Hall, Putatan on November 15 which highlights the theme, “Festival of Stars,” with fusion of Filipino-Western White Christmas décor.

The program is followed by a gift-giving event to Muntinlupa kids. Fresnedi invites all residents to enjoy the Festival of Stars and experience White Christmas in the City Hall.

“All are welcome to witness the early Christmas offering of the City Government. As we celebrate this year’s Christmas, may we not forget that the true spirit of this festivity which is about the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and about generosity as God has been generous to us first,” Fresnedi says.

Visitors will be greeted by the spectacle of a 35-foot Christmas tree in the City Hall Quadrangle which serves as the centerpiece of the attraction. The giant tree is ornamented with various sizes of “parols” or star-shaped Christmas lanterns made from white plastic materials and native bamboo sticks.

An Instagram-worthy photo area pegged as a large gift box gleaming in white and blue lights located at the City Hall Quadrangle also awaits Muntinlupa residents and visitors.

Inside the Main Building of the City Hall, one may take a selfie in the Christmas village together with the 30 life-size Santa Claus statues. The interior are also infused with Filipino furnishings featuring Capiz-shells chandeliers.

A life-size scene of the nativity, or what Filipinos refer to as Belen, is also installed in the foyer of the Muntinlupa City Hall.

Muntinlupa Public Information Officer Tez Navarro noted that this year’s theme and design of simplicity and purity of the color white symbolize goodness, faith, and positivity which is the message of the season. Navarro added that the theme also translates the local government’s thrust on austerity and transparency.
