The Biazons better talk it over with their own bodyguards.

A local Liberal Party (LP)  campaign caucus in Muntinlupa City was marred by a shooting that left three persons wounded Friday night, after a fight erupted between the security personnel of reelectionist Rep. Rodolfo Biazon and that of his son, Bureau of Customs chief Ruffy Biazon.

City police chief Senior Supt. Roque de la Vega said the shooting stemmed from a brawl between the “advance security party” of the elder Biazon and one of Ruffy’s bodyguards.

The brawl broke out at the covered court of Soldiers Hills subdivision in Barangay Putatan while Rep. Biazon was speaking onstage around 10 p.m., De la Vega said.

Lost his temper

The police chief said it was the younger Biazon’s close-in security detail, Cpl. Nelson Lubrin of the Philippine Marines, who fired the shots.

Wounded were Nilo Marollano, his son Victor, and their friend Oscar Parahili, all residents of the barangay.

Quoting Lubrin, De la Vega said the Marine felt insulted and lost his temper when the Marollanos gave him a shove and called him “suplado” (a snob).

Lubrin hit back but the Marollanos and Parahili ganged up on him. When he saw that one of his attackers was about to hit him with a rock, he drew his pistol and fired at them several times.

The elder Marollano was hit in his left arm and the left side of his torso, while the son was shot in his right arm. Parahili was hit in his stomach.

The three men were rushed to Medical Center Muntinlupa, while Lubrin was turned over by his superiors to the Muntinlupa police.

The wounded were later transferred to Asian Hospital and Medical Center on Saturday for surgery. Parahili was later discharged from the hospital, De la Vega said.

The incident was recorded in the police blotter but no formal complaint had been filed against Lubrin at press time, the officer added.
