BF Resort carnapping suspects jailed; Gang Leader killed

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – Ivan Padilla, leader of the notorious Padilla carnapping syndicate, was killed after a shootout with authorities in Makati City Monday morning.

Padilla was arrested by operatives of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Anti-Carnapping group at 3 a.m. after authorities received a tip that Padilla was poised to strike again in Makati.

Padilla was wounded after engaging arresting agents in an encounter. Police said Padilla opened fire after refusing to alight from his Toyota Vios.

The car theft gang leader was then taken to the Ospital ng Makati for treatment where he died.

Last week, two members of the Padilla group were arrested following the recovery of the vehicles of former Ambassador Roberto Romulo and the father of actor Derek Ramsay.

They were Dale Alemagno and Glen del Castillo. – With reports from ANC and Gretchen Malalad, ABS-CBN News

Is this the Toyota Vios that the gang carnapped from a call center agent in BF Resort (along Gloria Diaz) recently?

We heard that the call center agent was about to park his car when a BMW suddenly cut his car then asked him to go down and drove away with his Toyota Vios.

Dangerous!

At least the gang leader was killed and two of his cohorts are already in jail. But there might be other members of the gang still out there or other gangs who are also in the carnapping trade (yes, it’s now a business).

Again, magingat po tayong lahat.
