Alabang Town Center hosts bike event; Gathers and turns over 177 helmets to Ayala Alabang

Alabang Town Center (ATC) has always been known as a close-knit community space and second home in the South, mounting events and activities that help the environment, and the community’s efforts to live a fit and healthier lifestyle.

In January 2016, ATC hosted the Bike to Town event—a series of Sunday morning sessions giving Southerners the venue to get together on their bikes, have fun and learn new things. They had 3 Sundays of short lessons on biking basics, road etiquette, the benefits of cycling and safety tips to help in promoting the importance of safety when biking on public access roads.

ATC has always had very close ties with Ayala Alabang Village. In 2015, two fatal incidents were reported; the first involving a tennis instructor, and the second a construction worker—both without helmets, or any of the proper safety gear. With the recent rise in bike-related incidents in the village, we saw the need to reach out and respond to this.

Last Sunday, February 21, 2016, ATC opened its doors to welcome 190 bikers of all ages. The community banded together in full support for the event. With the help and generosity of all participants and partners, the event collected over 177 helmets to be turned over to Ayala Alabang Village Association.

In partnering with FONDO Manila, Ayala Alabang Village Association, Colliers International, Light’N Up Marketing and various ATC merchants, the Share the Road Charity Bike Ride was the community’s first, of many collaborative efforts to actively get together in fitness, fun and for a greater cause.
