800 families in LP given land titles

Another batch of more than 800 family-beneficiaries in Las Piñas City personally received copies of their land titles from Senator Manny Villar and Mayor Vergel “Nene” Aguilar recently making them rightful owners to the lots where their houses are situated under the city’s socialized housing project.

The socialized housing project is an ongoing program of Las Piñas City through the National Housing Authority since 1995 with theme: Kalayaan sa Kahirapan, Sariling Lupa Makamtan!

In awarding the copies of land titles to 386 and conditional contract to sell (CCS) to about 500 head of families Senator Villar and Mayor Aguilar urged the beneficiaries to make good of this opportunity to own a house and lot in the metropolis at an affordable payment scheme.

“Nothing is more fulfilling to me than making sure that you are now rightful owners to your house and a lot no matter how small. Ito ang isang tunay na pag-ahon sa kahirapan sa pamamagitan ng sipag at tiyaga,” Villar said during the awarding.

The recipients are part of the potential 7,945 beneficiary families living in the sprawling land area in Barangay CAA/BF International which was used to be classified as settlement site for informal settlers (squatters).

“Our fellow Las Piñeros deserve not just accessible and affordable health and education services but also decent shelter which we continue to provide with the help of Senator Villar through our socialized housing program,” Mayor Aguilar said.

Of the beneficiaries about 2,000 already received their conditional contracts to sell from 5,542 given the certificate of lot allocation which qualifies them to own apply to purchase a residential lot.

Under the scheme, the city’s Urban Poor Affairs Office is in charge of the evaluation and monitoring of prospective beneficiaries and makes recommendation to the NHA qualified or potential beneficiaries. Once given the (CCS), beneficiaries pay directly to the NHA office to complete the 22-year payment term and claim their original land title.

The CAA Socialized Housing Project is just one of the urban settlement projects being undertaken by Las Piñas which goal is to ensure a zero-informal settler in the city given their target period. This is to give form to the common vision of Mayor Aguilar and Senator Villar to free the informal settlers from poverty by making them rightful residential lot owners.

Sen. Villar is distributing land titles. Bakit si Noynoy hindi magawa ‘yan sa Hacienda Luisita?
