Host city, Parañaque, under the administration of Mayor Jun Bernabe has come to develop a strong economy. With economic activity ignited in 2004, this city has consistently fared well financially and has since been included in the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) Top 10 Phil. Cities lists since 2006. “The four consistently richest cities in 2006 and 2007 were Quezon City, Makati, Manila and Pasig. The next two were alternately Paranaque and Davao.”, says an article entitled “The Top Cities, a Bias Towards Metro Manila?” which was written by then NSCB Secretary-General, Dr. Romulo A. Virola in http://www.nscb.gov.ph/headlines/StatsSpeak/2010/091310_rav_gjlc_pv_topcities.asp

The latest online posting derived from the 2009 (most recent) NSCB study in business websitehttp://www.pinoymoneytalk.com/philippines-city-per-capita-income/ lists Parañaque City in No. 5 position in the Top 10 Phil. Cities in terms of per capita income; in 8th spot on the basis of total income; and # 5 with regard to tax revenues. “Figures in the study indicate how effective and efficient the local government unit is in producing income. True, LGUs are not in the business of making money but the data show how efficient they are using their Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) – or budget allocated to them by the national government – and how productive their initiatives are in generating economic activity in the city.”, the report says.
