5 Pque barangays lauded for peace and order

In recognition of their effort and success in maintaining peace and order in their areas of responsibility, five barangay government units (BGU) in Parañaque City were given the Barangay Peace and Order Committee (BPOC) Award during the city’s flag-raising rites at the city hall grounds.
The awards were based on the BGU compliance to BPOC indicators as well as their contributions towards crime prevention and maintenance of peace and order for the general welfare of the residents.

Performance indicators include organization; meetings; policies; plans and budget; and accomplishment reports.  The level of functionality of barangays is rated as follows:  Basic (20% achieved the requirements); Progressive (21-50% of the requirements); Mature (51-79% achieved the requirement); and Ideal (80-100% achieved the requirements).
Given the BPOC Award were Barangays Don Bosco (94%), Tambo (93.5%), Merville (91%), Don Galo (89%) and San Isidro (84.5%).  All five achieved an “Ideal” rating.
The award was mulled by the city’s BPOC. This committee is composed of DILG-NCR, PNP-NCR, Parañaque LGU, the Parañaque Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PqCCI) and the Liga ng Mga Barangay. The Parañaque DILG is now headed by Parañaque DILG Director Gloria Aguhar C.E.S.E. She took over former P’que DILG Director Teresita Fababeir.
“We commend the agencies that comprise the BPOC Committee and the officials, employees and volunteers of BGUs who have exerted great efforts in preventing crime and maintaining peace and order in their respective areas.  We also cite the citizens for supporting their barangays and the local police. We exhort them to keep up the good work. The Parañaque City Government will continue supporting the capability-building efforts of barangay government units as it is helping the Parañaque PNP in further improving its state of readiness.”, Mayor Bernabe said.
